'Real Star' Srihari passes away

Hyderabad:  Raghumudri Srihari, popularly known as 'Real Star' passed away shocking Tollywood industry at Leelavathi Hospital, Mumbai. Srihari has been taking treatment for a liver ailment for long. Srihari who started his career as a stunt master, quickly rose to stardom becoming a hero. Srihari is survived by his wife, actress Shanti Priya (popular as Disco Shanti) and two sons.

Srihari went to Mumbai recently to shoot for the movie titled ‘Rambo Rajagopal’.  Srihari was suffering from a liver disease and his health suddenly deteriorated when he was in Mumbai.

Chief Minister Kiran Reddy, PCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana, Union minister Chiranjeevi, former PCC chief D. Srinivas, former MP Harikrishna  condoled his death. “I have lost a friend who is closely associated with me personally and with my family.” Chiranjeevi said.

People closely associated with him found he was weak during the audio function of Ram Charan starrer ‘Toofan’. 

Srihari was born on 15th Aug,1964 and became hero under the direction of Dasari Narayana Rao. Srihari has acted in 97 movies and he played the lead role in 28 of them. He has won Nandi award as Best Character artist in 2005.  He had equal flair in essaying roles of a hero, villain and of character artist. Film buffs say some of the roles look like they are tailor-made for Srihari.

He got Filmfare award for his performance in ‘Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana’. Tollywood gave him the title of ‘Real star’.

A recent movie which caught the imagination of people was Ram Charan-starrer ‘Maga Dheera’ in which he essayed the role of Sher Khan. 

He entered Tollywood as a stunt master and his first film was in Tamil titled ‘Mappillai’ made in 1989. He acted as a hero for the first time in the film ‘Police’. His last film is Police Game which was released to theatres last week.

He has acted in films like Ayodhya Ramaiah, Pruthvi Narayana, Bhairava, Viajayaramaraju, Ganapati, Sri Mahalakshmi, Hanumanthu., Simhachalam, Sambaiah, Dasanna, Srisaialam, Dhee, Brundavanam.

Srihari was popular for his involvement in social service. He had established a foundation in the name of his late daughter Akshara. Akshara Foundation was started in memory of his daughter Akshara, who died at the age of just 4 months. The Foundation adopted four villages in Medchal mandal for undertaking development activities.
