Hyderabad: Former minister and TDP leader K Kala Venkat Rao today said if the 21 MPs of Seemandhra resigned, within an hour Manmohan Singh government would collapse and the decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh would be withdrawn.

He was speaking at a relay hunger strike camp organized by the TDP in support of Samaikya Andhra at Gujaratipet in Srikakulam district yesterday.

On the occasion, former TDP minister Gunda Appala Suryanarayana said when Atal Bihari Vajpaye was the Prime Minster; efforts were made to bifurcate the state. But the move was abandoned when TDP leader N chandrababu Naidu had threatened that 38 MPs from the State would be asked to resign.

“If Seemandhra MPs refuse to tender their resignation in spite of  the prevailing situation, the people should mount pressure on them to resign in support of Samaikya Andhra”, he said.
