A determined and belligerent YSRCP and Seemandhra TDP members succeeded in preventing the debate on the Telangana Bill to commence in the State Assembly on Wednesday, by throwing the House into a pandemonium.
As the agitating members from both the parties continued to cause a ruckus by chanting slogans to keep the state united, Speaker N. Manohar adjourned the House twice and then adjourned third time for the day.
Soon after the house met at 9 am, the YSR Congress party members and Seemandhra TDP legislators stormed the podium of the Speaker and raised slogans of ‘Save Andhra Pradesh’ and ‘Jai Samaikyandhra’.
Amidst noisy scenes, the Speaker announced that the notices of adjournment motions given by TDP demanding discussion on the attitude of the Centre and the State Governments towards the ongoing agitations in seemandhra and Telangana region, and YSR Congress party on resolution supporting united Andhra Pradesh have been disallowed.
When pandemonium continued in the house, the Speaker adjourned the house for one-hour. The same scenes were repeated in the house even after the house reassembled. To bring the house into control, the Speaker adjourned the house second time.
High drama ran in the house after adjournment of the house second time. The seemandhra Congress and TDP legislators, and YSR Congress party members continued their protest at the podium of the Speaker even after adjournment of the house. They continuously raised slogans of ‘Save Andhra Pradesh’ and ‘Jai Samaikyandhra’.
Interestingly, this time, the Minister for Primary Education Dr Shailajanath and the Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivas, both from seemandhra region, stood at their places and displayed placards of ‘Jai Samaikyandhra’. some of the seemandhra legislators pushed aside the staff of ‘watch and work’, who stood around the podium of the Speaker as protection. The seemandhra legislators also thrice switched on the Assembly bell, which would be buzzed as an indication call for assembling of the house.
Unruly scenes taken place in the house after it met again at 1.21 pm. When the Speaker Nadendla Manohar arrived to the house and took his seat, the seemandhra TDP legislators tore the papers into the pieces and thrown on the Speaker. With this, the Speaker adjourned the house for the day and left the house.
Realizing the game plan of the YSRCP, Seemandhra TDP and Congress members to derail the commencement of the debate, the Telangana members from all political parties formulated their own plan to counter this. All the Telangana members signed on a single affidavit to express support to the T formation. They were forced to give their opinion in writing since a debate on the T Bill was being deliberately prevented from being taken up in the House.
