Dr. V. Venkataramana, Member of AP Medical Council, has asked doctors to be careful about sex determination tests in the wake of stringent laws and also educate the public about its implications.
Addressing the final year students of MBBS at Kurnool Medical College here on Saturday, he said most doctors running scanning centres had landed in trouble due to carelessness. He said doctors should not fall in the trap of queries asked by patients out of the curiosity to know the sex of the child.
‘Stick to professional ethics’
Dr. Venkataramana said doctors should stick to professional ethics and treat patients with dignity. He asked doctors not to mobilise patients for private nursing homes from public hospitals by virtue of their association with the latter. Principal G.S. Ramprasad and Superintendent Umamaheswar and others were present.
