Kadapa/Kurnool/Anantapur: The Samaikyandhra agitation continued for the 85th consecutive day in the region on Wednesday against the Centre’s decision to bifurcate the state.
Members of the Teachers Joint Action Committee staged a half-naked protest at Potti Sreeramulu statue in Anantapur. They also took out a rally with empty pots to warn of severe drinking water crisis in the future if the state is bifurcated.
Leaders of the teachers JAC demanded that the Centre reverse its decision in the wake of ongoing agitation in the region. JAC leaders B. Narasimhulu and K. Harikrishna threatened to launch indefinite strike again if the Centre proceeds with state’s division ignoring the sentiments of larger sections of people.
They demanded that the MPs and Central ministers to get acceptance for their resignations to mount pressure on the Centre. In Kurnool, advocates JAC continued protests against speedy measures towards creation of Telangana state. Samaikyandhra activists took out a candle light rally at Allagadda.
