Separatists posing as integrationists

Hyderabad: Congress MP Lagdapati Rajagopal has alleged that some leaders are secretly working for bifurcation of the state while posing as integrationists.

Without naming any leader, Rajagopal said that some state party leaders have misled central Congress leaders, to the effect that there is no sentiment among the people of northern Andhra in favour of a united Andhra Pradesh state and there will be no hurdles in going ahead with carving out of Telangana.

When reporters asked him about the reported ”leaks” of resignation by PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana who is also the state transport minister, Rajagopal refused to be drawn into the issue, saying that he is not going to talk about individuals.

At the same time, he trashed some media reports that he was referring to Union Tourism minister Chiranjeevi in this regard. He recalled that before the July 30 CWC resolution, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh asked Chiranjeevi if northern Andhra people will oppose Telangana. Chiranjeevi told him that ‘Uttarandhra’ people will oppose it tooth and nail.
Lagadapati and three other Seemandhra Congress MPs are awaiting response from Speaker’s office on their resignations.
