Hyderabad: Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and the Seemandhra ministers expressed confidence that the Congress high command may change its decision on bifurcation of the state after the success of APNGOs ‘Save Andhra Pradesh’ meeting in Hyderabad, opposing the state bifurcation.
They felt that the meeting will definitely have an impact on the high command.
The Chief Minister and Seemandhra ministers were happy with the success of APNGOs meeting which they watched on TV at the CM’s official residence.
The Chief Minister, while sharing his thoughts with Seemandhra leaders, said he was in touch with the officials and gave directions to them.
Reddy expressed satisfaction that the meeting went off peacefully without any untoward incidents, and appreciated the efforts of the police personnel.
Among those who met the Chief Minister were ministers Pitani Satyanarayana, Pinipe Viswaroop, Erasu Pratap Reddy, T.G. Venkatesh, D. Manikya Varaprasada Rao, Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy, Ahamadullah, S. Vijayarama Raju, MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, MLAs J.C. Diwakar Reddy, G. Veera Siva Reddy and others.
The Chief Minister hosted lunch for all at his official residence. Everybody present felt that the APNGO’s meeting will definitely have an impact on the high command and hoped it would rethink its decision on bifurcation of the state.
The Vijayawada MP, Rajagopal, told the media that after the APNGO’s meeting it is clear that 80 per cent of the people are in favour of a united state. He said that since Samaikyandhra people have made a success of the APNGOs meeting, now as MPs they have to play their role at Delhi.
Seemandhra ministers opined that the meeting has given confidence to the Seemandhra people that the state will remain united.
They said, very soon a Samaikyandhra meeting will be conducted at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad with one lakh people.
Organisers heave a sigh of relief
Hyderabad: It was virtually a sea of government employees at the Lal Bahadur Stadium on Saturday as thousands from Seemandhra region thronged there to convey a single message to the Centre loud and clear — to keep the state united forever.
“Jai Samaikhyandhra” slogans rent the air as the multitude raised their voices in unison in a bid to make their voices heard by the decision makers.
When it was all over, the organisers heaved a sigh of relief that the meeting had passed off peacefully and uneventfully, barring a few minor disruptions.
The stadium was packed to capacity. Organisers estimated the total turnout to be in the range of 40,000 to 50,000. All the galleries and the ground were packed with employees from various departments.
The organisers arranged cultural programmes to entertain the crowd, who sat for seven hours in the scorching heat.
