HYDERABAD: Seemandhra ministers are planning to take their Samaikyandhra movement to national capital by mobilising various sections of people to draw the attention of the party high command to the problems these sections would face, if Telangana is formed.
The leaders now want to present students, farmers, traders to leaders in Delhi to narrate what will they lose in case the state is divided.
About 600 students from various universities across the Seemandhra region are scheduled to leave for Delhi for three days on September 30. This was decided in Kurnool on Monday, where minor irrigation minister TG Ventakesh was also present. The Seemandhra students will stage a dharna there demanding the calling off of the T-process on October 2. They will also meet several national leaders to brief them about their problems. "So far we have spoken to national leaders on behalf of students, farmers, and traders. Now, the JACs of these sections will also give a first-hand information on what is going on in the Rayalaseema and Andhra regions," said T G Venkatesh. Traders will march to Delhi in support of Samaikyandhra, he said.
P Ravisankar Reddy, coordinator of Students' JAC from Rayalaseema, said building national solidarity was the main objective. "Students will be badly affected by the division of the state as the entire job market is located in Hyderabad. Companies, public sector units, various research institutes etc will all become inaccessible if Hyderabad goes to other state," he said. Meanwhile, in response to demand for resignations, the ministers they would quit after defeating the T-resolution in Assembly. "No Seemandhra minister will cling on to his cabinet berth. We are only waiting for the introduction of the T-resolution in Assembly. We will defeat it on the floor of the house and quit the cabinet," Sailajatha, convener of Seemandhra CongressMLAs, said.
