New Delhi: In what is seen as a setback for Congress-led UPA, BJP and several other major parties in the Parliament have made it clear to Speaker Meira Kumar, that they do not agree with the Government’s stand that the T Bill has been introduced in Lok Sabha.
Soon after the House was adjourned after introduction of T Bill, BJP leaders LK Advani and Sushma Swaraj, Sharad Yadav (JDU), Gurudas Dasgupta (CPI), Tambidurai (AIADMK), Sailendra Kumar (BJD) and Kalyan Banerjee (Trinamool Congress) met Speaker at her chambers and informed of their decision. UPA ministers Sushilkumar Shinde, Kamal Nath and Rajiv Shukla were also present at the meeting.
Speaking to reports later, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said that the T Bill has not been introduced in House. She asserted that Government is wrong in claiming that the Bill is tabled.
She said that the Government has flouted all legislative conventions– tabling of the Bill was not mentioned in list of business, not even in the revised list of business. But such an important Bill was placed in the Supplementary list of business. And the list says the Bill will be introduced at 2.00 PM, but the Bill was introduced at 12.00 noon.
