The APCPDCL had announced power cut schedule earlier this month citing power shortage as a reason. Now, the officials claim there was no shortage of power and hence, no need for unscheduled power cuts. Anyhow people of Kurnool district in all municipalities, mandal headquarters and villages, are fuming at the power cuts. With the mercury rising with each passing day, the power cuts during the day and night are giving them hard time.
The government’s power cut schedule is from 8 -10 am and again 2-4 pm in the district headquarters, morning 6-9am and afternoon 12noon to 3pm in municipalities and morning 6-11am and afternoon 2-5pm at mandal head quarters. Villages get power supply only for 6 hours.
Present power cuts are creating problems in the towns for household works. The housewives are facing problems in preparing lunch boxes to their children. The students are also suffering with power cuts, who are preparing for examinations like SSC, intermediate, Eamcet and others.
Students in villages are more troubled with power cuts and the Transco officials are not maintaining their power schedules. Power cuts are more in villages and mandals.
But higher officials are giving statements that there are no power cuts as the situation has improved. During repairs and maintenance, power has to be shutdown and this can be a time taking process and they are trying to avoid inconvenience to the public.
“In my colony, the power goes off for a minimum of 4 hours every day. This has been the case in the last couple of weeks. Due to the frequent power cuts, it has become difficult to carry on household work,” says K Suhasini resident of Krishnanagar in Kurnool.
M Suresh, student of KKIT Engineering College, says, “How can there be technical problems every day. We almost have 6 hours of power cut everyday. We are facing problems during practicals in labs. Though, some managements are arranging generator but they are collecting charges from the students.”
