IBM job for Rs 80K : Cyber cheat duped a woman

One Rajendran Parthasarathy, 24, a native of Tamil Nadu, was arrested by Cyber Crime Police, on Monday in connection with a “Job offer fraud” case. 

 Cyber Crime Police stated that one Nagamanisri of Alwyn Colony, Kukatpally has complained that she was cheated by the accused, who promised to provide a job in IBM and collected Rs 80,000. Police said the complainant was e-mailed a fake offer letter, subsequent to her clearing a telephonic interview from IT firm IBM’s official fixed-line (No.040-66596000). On verification with IBM authorities, she found the offer letter to be fake. 

 During investigation, it was found the accused called the complainant by spoofing (from crazycall.net) the official fixed-line number of IBM and took two rounds of interview. Then, he e-mailed fake IBM job offer letter through emkei.cz, a fake mailer site, to the complainant with the active connivance of another accused Radha Krishna alias Aravind of Dhone in Kurnool.

 The Cyber Crime Police nabbed the accused when he came to meet the complainant to receive money. Police recovered cash of Rs 25,000, one laptop and other articles from the possession of the accused. The accused is being remanded to judicial custody and efforts were on to nab his accomplice Radha Krishna.

 The case has been investigated by K. Sudarshan Reddy, Inspector of Police, assisted by K. Srinivas and S. Raghavender Reddy, SIs under the supervision of Janaki Sharmila, Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police, (Crimes), Cyberabad and D. Pratap Reddy, Asst. Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime PS, Cyberabad. 

Cyberabad Commissioner of Police C.V. Anand appreciated the work of the officers in detecting the fraud and arresting the accused.
