The Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the BJP have made it clear that they will not accept the proposal for creating a Rayala-Telangana state.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, TRS general secretary K Keshav Rao, Kadiam Srihari and Politburo member B Sharvan said, “There is no question of accepting Rayala-Telangana state. We are for a Telangana state with 10 districts and Hyderabad as capital.”
“How many times do you want us to clarify on the issue? All these reports are being spread to create confusion among the people of the region,” Keshav Rao said.
On reports of Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials eliciting the opinion of TRS leaders on Rayala-Telangana state, he said no one had called or consulted them on the issue. “All this drama is a media creation. Till now no IB official has contacted our party leaders nor any discussion on Rayala-Telangana option has taken place in the party fora,” he said.
The TRS has decided to observe November 29, the day when party chief K Chandrasekhar Rao started his fast-unto-death in 2009 in support of Telangana State, as Telangana Deeksha Diwas.
Srihari said the party would conduct second phase of the mandal-level training programme for workers from Nov 30 to Dec 15. The first phase was conducted from Nov 16 to 25.
BJP TOO: Refusing to accept the Centre’s proposal of Rayala-Telangana, state BJP state president G Kishan Reddy has made it clear that the party will accept only a Telangana state with 10 districts and Hyderabad as capital but no other proposal.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Reddy said his party had time and again made it clear that it did not favour the idea of forming a Rayala-Telangana state. “Anything other than Telangana state with 10 districts and Hyderabad as capital will not be acceptable to the BJP. The party will exert pressure on the Centre to create only Telangana state with 10 districts and will see that when the bill is tabled in Parliament, it will be passed in the same form,” he said.
On Intelligence Bureau officials’ phone calls to TRS leaders on Rayala-Telangana state issue the state BJP chief said no one from the IB had called him on the issue.
