Vijayawada: The Communist Party of India (CPI) Krishna district council here on Sunday demanded that the UPA government make Vijayawada the new capital for Seemandhra after the state is bifurcated.
Breaking its silence for the first time, the CPI’s Krishna unit expressed its views with regard to bifurcation of the state. The local leaders were angry with the party for being silent about bifurcation when there were strong protests over the issue in the district.
All the top leaders of the Krishna CPI committee attended the meet. They also sought a new railway zone and High Court Bench.
The CPI council also requested the government to allot ITIR funds to Gannavaram IT Park and complete the Machilipatnam port, Pulichintala project immediately.
Gannavaram Airport should be developed as International Airport and long pending proposal of super specialty hospital and retaining walls beside the Krishna River also must be constructed without any delay, they added.
They appealed the government NTTPS should be expanded in future needs. To develop the Kolleru Lake as tourism center and all legal issues should be cleared to Polavaram project, the CPI added.
CPI Krishna district CPI secretary Akkineni Vanaja, former legislator K Subba Raju, former MLC Jalli Wilson, CPI leaders AV Gopala Rao, Ch Koteswara Rao, Ch V Rama Rao and D Shankar attended the meeting and proposed and passed the several resolutions unanimously.
