Minister for Minor Irrigation T.G. Venkatesh has asked the General Hospital authorities to improve conditions in the paid block to attract more patients. Even though a separate block was earmarked for patients against payment, very few people utilised the facility on the ground that doctors’ care was not proper. The doctors who preferred to serve in their respective wards were hardly seen.
Addressing the meeting of the Hospital Development Society here on Saturday, he said the image of the hospital would improve if the middle classes visited the hospital besides adding to the revenue.
He also asked the authorities to improve the ambience of the hospital to gain the confidence of the public. This will be possible only when funds available locally are utilised for maintenance, he said. He suggested that a comprehensive report be prepared on sanitation and drainage. He asked the officers to release wages for outsourced employees without delay.
Mr. Venkatesh asked for a Closed Circuit TV system to be installed on the campus for security and monitoring. Mr. Venkatesh took part in a function meant for relocation of the State of Mahatma Gandhi on the campus.
