They have killed my grandmother (Indira Gandhi), my father and I may also get killed. I do not care

Churu (Rajasthan): Making a highly emotional pitch that is bound to stir a fresh controversy, Congress Vice President today said he may get killed in the name of politics. Speaking at an election rally here, he said, “They have killed my grandmother (Indira Gandhi), my father and I may also get killed. I do not care.”
He said those who killed his grandmother were his friends for 10 years. But it took 10 years for the anger to go from within him. “I met many Muslims and I see my story in them,” he added. He however did not elaborate on whom he was referring to.
And as an afterthought he said “I am speaking from my heart, not with an eye on (your) votes”. The burden of his speech was targeted at the BJP, a party “ready to spark communal riots.”
He took the BJP head on saying the saffron party is ready to stoke the fire of communal tension and Muzaffarnagar was an example, he added. “They will set fire to UP, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir and we will have to put out these fires.”
Slamming Rahul Gandhi for his comments, the BJP said instead of focusing on burning issues of today, the Congress vice president is speaking of incidents that happened over 30 years ago. Party spokesperson Ravishankar Prasad said in every riot that broke out, the Congress hand was evident.
