The power crisis has hit the operation of trains in the limits of Vijayawada division on Sunday.
Several trains were stopped midway at various places in the division limits, from Guduru of Nellore district to Tuni of East Godavari district, while officials cancelled some trains for two days due to shortage of power.
Besides, 22 trains have been delayed due to lack of power supply, while some are being halted for over an hour at various stations. The officials ran the Pinakani Express with a diesel engine after a delay of 45 minutes.
The Howrah-Hyderabad train was stopped at Vijayawada station for about 30 minutes while the Howrah-Chennai Express at Anakapalli station, the Jaipur-Chemnai Express at Talamanchali station.
The Secunderad-Guduru Express was stopped at Bapatla, Patna-Bengaluru express at Vijayawada and Secunderabad-Kakinada express at Rayanapadu station. The New Jalpaiguri to Chennai Express was halted at Nidadavolu station.
According to railway officials, Train No. 12712 Chennai Central to Vija-yawada Pinakani Expr-ess has been cancelled for two days from Oc-tober 6. Train No. 12711 Vijayawada-Chennai Central Jan Shatabdi Express has been cancelled for two days on October 6 and 7.
The officials also cancelled the Vijayawada-Ongole passenger, Tenali-Ongole-Guntur, Ongole-Guduru-Ongole, Vijayawada-Guntur, Dornakal-Vijayawada, Kazipet-Vijayawada, Tirupati-Guduru, Vijayawada-Bitragunta, Bitragunta-Chennai and Chennai-Guduru passenger trains for two days from Sunday.
Divisional railway ma-nager P. Pradeep Kumar and several officials monitored the movement of the trains and arranged 10 diesel engines to run the express trains without any interruption.
