Vijayawada: Is this a strategic move by centre? After the grant to develop Gannavaram Airport at Vijayawada, the centre has given a green blob to another big project, IT Tower at Vijayawada.
Government has planned to have an IT tower in the STPI campus, the Government Polytechnic College and this happens to be in the heart of Vijayawada city.
Even as the agitation against the bifurcation continues, it all seems to be falling at the deaf ears of the centre which is keen on starting off some development projects in the seemandhra region.
Earlier there was plan to have a six-storeyed building at the place with 60k sft plinth area and the plan was also sent for approval. It didn’t get approved and according to the latest plan it will be a five-storeyed building with 50k sft area.
It is learnt that the project is going to take off soon and the funds for the same are also ready and allotted. The IT tower will have facilities to house major IT MNCs in the city. Government believes this will help to provide employment for the local youth.
