YSRCP wants Assembly meet for Samaikya resolution

Hyderabad: The 17 YSR Congress MLAs decided not to press for acceptance of their resignations until the State Assembly meets and passes a resolution in support of “Samaikyandhra”.

This decision was arrived at after their meeting with party President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday morning. The MLAs had submitted their resignations to Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar sometime back anticipating CWC decision in support of bifurcation of the state.

After prolonged deliberations, the MLAs decided not to press for acceptance of their resignations and instead request the Speaker to convene the State Assembly to pass a resolution in support of a united state. The MLAs have an appointment with the Speaker later in the evening.

The YSR Congress legislators also planned  to go in a delegation along with Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to call on the Governor and urge him to convene the Assembly to facilitate the passing of a resolution for Samaikyandhra. They had sought an appointment with the Governor for this purpose and expected to meet him sometime later in the evening. The MLAs are also planning to address a letter to the Chief Minister for convening the Assembly and move a resolution favouring a united state and send the same to the centre.

Later speaking to the media, Shobha Nagi Reddy, on behalf of the YSR Congress legislators,  took pot shots at  Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and  PCC President Botcha Satyanarayana in playing with the sentiments of the people and misleading them by proclaiming that they stood for a united state. “If the Chief Minister is really stood for Samaikyandhra, he should convene the Assembly and get a resolution passed before the Centre sends a resolution for formation of a Telangana state”, she observed.

Shobha Nagi Reddy also went hammer and tongs at the Union Ministers and Congress MPs from the Seemandhra region for taking the people for a ride with their resignation drama. Had they come out openly about their inability to prevent bifurcation of the state, the people would have launched their struggle much earlier, he observed.

Stressing the imperative need for convening the Assembly for moving a resolution in support of a united state, Shobha Nagi Reddy said that the true colors of Chief Minister and other Congress leaders about their claims for samaikyandhra would be known during a discussion in the House.
