New Delhi: Union Minister Veerappa Moily has informed the Seemandhra Congress leaders who had called on him on Wednesday, that the Cabinet note on Telangana cannot be finalized without the receipt of the report from  the high-level committee headed by Defence Minister A.K. Antony.

The four-member Antony Committee was constituted in the wake of the unprecedented upsurge in the Seemandhra region following the CWC decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi had set up the committee with General secretary in-charge of AP Congress affairs Digvijaya Singh, Veerappa Moily and Ahmed Patel as its members to address the concerns of the people of the Seemandhra by holdings consultations with leaders and people of all sections from the region.

Though it is being said that Union ministry of Home Affairs is in the process of preparing the Cabinet note, some mainstream newspapers have reported that confusion is reigning supreme among the Home ministry officials over the preparation of such a Cabinet note.

Consequently, there were not many takers for an agency story which said the Cabinet note has been prepared and is only awaiting political clearance from Sonia Gandhi. This is also because preparation of  Cabinet note is not possible without the Antony Committee actually submitting its report to the Congress high-command.

But the net effect was the rise in temperatures on both the sides of AP’s ugly political divide.

This has further led the Seemandhra Congress leaders to rush to Delhi to hold parley with the central leaders and request them to heed their advice. Several Seemandhra Congress leaders have already declared that Congress will come out a cropper in the next elections, if Telangana process is taken ahead.

In his meeting on Wednesday, Moily has made it clear to the delegation of Seemandhra Congress leaders that the Cabinet note on Telangana would move forward only after getting the report from the Antony Committee. He has also assured them that the concerns and views expressed by the Seemandhra leaders before the Antony Committee would be incorporated in its report.

More significantly, Moily told the Seemandhra Congress leaders that Congress President Sonia Gandhi will definitely respect the views of the people of the region
