It appears that the people of Andhra Pradesh may have to witness more twists and turns in the days to come over the never ending saga of Telangana. The latest comments by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani on Tuesday raised serious doubts on smooth passage of Telangana bill in the Parliament.
Speaking at a program in Raipur, Chittisgarh, the senior BJP leaders said a resolution has to be passed by the (Andhra Pradesh) state assembly. He pointed out that all the earlier states were created smoothly under BJP-led NDA government because all states have passed resolutions in their respective state assemblies.
Advani criticised the UPA government for its improper handling of the division. “Congress had taken Telangana decision for political mileage, without taking people of all the regions into confidence” he said. He said that the CWC decision to create separate Telangana state, has plunged the state into chaos.
It must be mentioned here that BJP state president G Kishan Reddy said few days back that the Telangana Bill will not be supported unless issues pertaining to Seemandhre region were addressed first. BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and BJP prime-ministerial candidate Narendra Modi blamed the Congress party for creating enmity between Telugu people.
BJP’s confusing stand is creating great deal of apprehension among Telangana supporters, who always maintained that new state is meaningless without Hyderabad. However, Centre may not concede to this demand as it is mulling over other options to satisfy Seemandhra people also.
In wake of all the confusion surrounding Telangana, KCR’s earlier comments must be mentioned here “unless Telangana Bill is introduced and passed in Parliament, no one is going to believe the Congress as the party lost credibility among the people”.
