Dharnas, protests continue unabated

Kurnool: Protesting the Congress move to carve out Telangana from Andhra Pradesh, Samaikyandhra activists continued dharnas, deekshas and rallies on the 50th day of their stir in Anantapur and Kurnool districts.
People from various walks of life including APNGOs, lawyers and students continued dharnas and rallies.
RTC buses were confined to depots as RTC employees joined the indefinite strike. With RTC employees on strike, the Corporation has suffered a loss of around Rs 50 crores.
With government employees joining the stir, the administration has come to a standstill in mandal headquarters and districts.
In Dharmavaram, weavers organised protest rallies and JACs organsised a Rythu Garjana. In Kadiri, JAC leaders begged on the roads as part of their protest.
In Kurnool, government employees and RTC staff staged a dharna at the Collectorate. Artist Kalakrishna staged a unique protest by drawing the number 50 at the Collectorate as the agitation completed 50 days.
Teachers JAC leaders staged a bike rally. Irrigation officials observed a hunger strike at the Jala Mandali office while lawyers observed a relay fast at the Sri Krishnadevaraya statue.
In Bethamcharla, Atmakur, Emmiganur, Adoni, Nandyal and Nandikotkur the agitation is going on smoothly.
Meanwhile, giving a major relief to private schools, the JACs exempted schools from the agitation. With this private schools can open after 50 days. As government teachers on the strike, government schools have not opened. Parents are asking JACs to exempt government educational institutions from bandhs.
Private hospitals in the district threatened to stop medical services (except emergency services) on Friday if the government did not withdraw its decision.

Meanwhile, the division of state has claimed one more life in Banaganapalli mandal in the district. The victim has been identified as Chennappa, 65, from Kolimigundla.
Chennappa died while watching Samaikyandhra news in TV. The family members said that Chennappa was depressed since the Congress annnounced decision to bifurcate the state.
