Hyderabad, Aug 26: The former minister J C Diwakar Reddy on Monday alleged that Primary Education Minister Shailajanath was strongly advocating united Andhra Pradesh due to his lust for posts.
Speaking to the media here, the senior Rayalaseema Congress leader said the Congress high command was not inclined to concede the demand for united Andhra Pradesh. “Hence, we are demanding Rayala Telangana comprising 10 Telangana and two Rayalaseema districts”, he said, adding that Anantapur and Kurnool districts should be linked with Telangana region for irrigation facility and the people of the two districts depended on Hyderabad for jobs. It appears the Antony Committee might back Rayala Telangana proposal, he added.
Diwakar Reddy felt that the issue of capital for Seemandhra would not arise if Rayala Telangana was formed. He pointed out that Rayalaseema people were demanding setting up of capital of new State in their districts.
He opined that half of the leaders of TRS and MIM were also supporting the proposal of Rayala Telangana. They would also convince the BJP for Rayala Telangana, he added. The leaders of Anantapur and Kurnool districts would soon meet and discuss the matter. If Rayala Telangana was not possible, Kurnool should be made capital of Seemandhra State, he demanded. Keeping in view the interests regarding irrigation and employment, the Rayalaseema people want merger in the proposed Telangana State.
He also warned the Congress candidates would not even secure deposits in the next elections if the present situation continues.
